If Madhura Becomes The PM of India…

Let’s get straight to the point!

If I were to become the PM of India,
I would want to work in different facets of society.

First and foremost, I would like to change the way we treat animals. Our approach towards species other than our own should be changed. It needs to be more inclusive.
We need to respect animals and understand that we do not own them. They are not our slaves. This is one area where we need to work on educating people about empathy, sympathy and nobility.

The biggest challenge India is facing today is the Population explosion. We do not like to talk about it, fearing outrage from different communities. But it is high time we address the elephant in the room and take stringent steps in that direction. Population control needs to be implemented, for the strain on natural resources will go beyond the threshold limit.

With the ever-increasing industrialisation, people are so absorbed in generating revenue and materialistic things that they ignore the condition of the environment that we live in. The ill-effects of the irrational decisions may be devastating. Sustainable development is the key to a better world.

Why are women still considered cerebrally, emotionally and physically weaker than their male counterparts? Eliminating gender bias on all fronts is the need of the hour.
Women have time and again proved that they are not inferior to men. It is high time that gender discrimination stops for real.

India is an agrarian country. More than 60% of the people in India are dependant on agriculture for their livelihood. But the majority of the farmers still depend on the rainy season for their farming activities. We need to implement a Water link grid by connecting significant rivers across the country, which can solve the problems related to irrigation and insufficiency of water. The floods and droughts can also be avoided because of this project.

As we saw during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are struggling in the Science sector. Why? Because we lack talent? No. Because we lack the basic infrastructure and a concrete backing. Impetus has to be given to the applied science sector with a focus on research and development. Work on the public health sector and improve the country’s quality of medical facilities by setting up clinics in every remotest village of the country.

According to the Global Hunger Index 2020, India ranks 94 among the 107 countries. We fall under the ‘Serious’ hunger category. We have to work extensively to Eradicate malnutrition and hunger.

Improve the global innovation index by giving a platform for innovative ideas to bloom and give benefits in terms of revenue to the inventors. This will create an ecosystem of scientific temperament which will prove to be fruitful for generations to come.

One of the country’s most underpaid jobs is Bus drivers, soldiers, and sanitisation sector workers. An immediate price hike needs to be done to boost their morale, and incentives should be given as a token of appreciation.

Strengthening of small scale industries and artisans based industries should be introduced. We must protect the traditional artistry and prosperous cultural handicraft industry, which is indigenous to India. We must encourage the families engaged in such activities to pass on their knowledge to their future generations so that their art does not die.

We must also try to bring reservations on economic conditions rather than on a religious and caste basis. This will encourage students to work hard. It will also give out a clear message of merit over everything else. This will also improve the quality of graduates we have every year.

Generate awareness about the climate crisis and make people aware of the planet’s current situation and encourage them to make healthier and conscious decisions. Provide some benefits if people chose greener alternatives in their lifestyle over the conventional ones.

Uniform civil code in the matters of adoption, marriages, divorce, and inheritance.
Women empowerment should be looked at in a sense – allowing women to attend colleges along with their children if they are married. Or provide a creche facility for babies with working women. No mother needs to choose between education and her child.

Promote eco-friendly initiatives and give incentives for the ideas that are coined by public and private sectors.

Work for educating at the grassroots level. We can rope in passionate about teaching and work for the underprivileged kids who cannot afford to go to school.
Restructure the transport facility so that it is more affordable for the commoner.

Amend the constitution to include the rule- no person who has a criminal record even in the slightest light can contest elections. Nor get into government services.
Also, increase the number of courts in the country and those who cannot afford to hire a lawyer and give them professional personnel for free representation in the court of law.

A lot still needs to be done, but right now, I can think about these things with clarity.
